Founded On Dreams

“Years later, I would learn one of the little students grew up to paint her own murals in the Mission district of SF. Learning at a young age, the process of mural-making is more than just paint on a wall”

As the artist and resident at Harvey Milk Civil Rights Elementary from 2009 to 2013 Gk Callahan worked on numerous projects with the student and faculty in the after-school program.

Two of the most notable projects are the murals "Founded on Dreams" and "Welcome to Harvey's Garden".

Through the process of community mural making, both murals were facilitated by Gk Callahan and executed by the elementary student body.
